Postmark is an email delivery service businesses can use to send transactional emails to their target customers promptly.

About our integration

Our integration with Postmark supports email notification delivery with the option to send notifications and receive replies using a custom domain.

Postmark sends your notifications by default to an address we provide for you that is formatted as follows:

{yourcompany}@bookings.{brand domain}

{yourcompany} is a placeholder for your company name, for example:

citywalkingtours@bookings.mywebsite.com

Should a customer reply to the notification, Postmark sends their response to your account's email address supplied in the Company area (Account > Setup > Company).

You can also customize the sender of notifications and reply-to email addresses to suit your business requirements.

To set up custom email delivery, please follow the instructions listed below.

  1. Activate notification delivery
  2. Verify your email address
  3. Configure DNS records

Custom email addresses are available only to those who own the domain they wish to send to and receive from. Generic email addresses from platforms like gmail.com and live.com are not supported.

3. Configuring DNS records

Follow these steps to verify the Postmark integration DNS records:

  1. Go to the Integrations area (Integrations > Email).
  2. Select the Postmark integration tile.

Integrations page with an arrow highlighting the ‘Postmark’ tile to indicate selection.

  3. Add the recommended DKIM DNS Record and Return-path DNS Record host and text values to your domain provider.

Callout icon of an open book outline, indicating a note.

The DKIM Record verifies that we can send an email for you and that the content of the email is unaltered.

The DKIM TXT record is customer-specific and is generated by our email integration.

The Return-Path Record declares that our mail service (Postmark) can send email on your behalf.

  4. Notice that once the system validates the DNS records, the system updates the Add-on Setup window.

Callout icon of a triangle with an exclamation mark, indicating an alert or warning.

Our servers may take up to an hour to see your new DNS records, so the update may take time.

Once it does, the Add-on Setup window updates the status, and the From Email email address is updated.

Until then, the Postmark integration continues sending from the default or previously configured custom email address.

Callout icon of a light bulb, indicating suggestions.

While the integration can work without validated DNS records, we recommend setting these up within your domain provider.

Valid DNS records help to improve email deliverability to your customers further.
