How to set up your product with staff-only guest types

With staff only guest types, you can make guest types visible to everyone or staff only. This helpful feature enables you to hide guest types, restrict access to trusted staff members, and set pricing exclusively for staff-only guest types.

What are guest types?

Guest types are features that allow you to categorize the type of guests associated with your booking. You can assign pricing, quantity limitations, and availability and date restrictions to each guest type. They also allow for automatic inventory allocation.

Setting guest types to staff only

Follow these steps to set up your guest types:

  1. Navigate to the Product Builder (Products > Products) to add a new product or edit an existing product.
  2. Go to the Inventory tab of the product builder.
  3. Click the +Create New button next to the Who is this product available to? field to open the Create Guest Type modal.

    Alternatively, you can edit an existing guest type by clicking on the pencil icon next to the guest type name.

  4. From the Create Guest Type modal, enter the Name of your guest type (e.g., employee). This field is required.
  5. Enter the ID of the guest type. You can identify the guest type in reports using this ID. This field is required.
  6. Select Visibility for the guest type.
    1. Everyone: By default, guest types are visible to everyone, meaning they are visible to guests and staff.
    2. Staff Only: This guest type is only visible to staff. Learn more about the staff experience below.

  7. Click Save to save your changes.
  8. You can then configure rates per guest type (if needed) from the product builder's Pricing tab.

Having the guest type visible to staff only allows your staff to book guest types as needed, e.g., for employee pricing.

Guest types are visible to staff on the staff-side booking pages and hidden from customers.
