How to exclude consecutive dates from product closures using the product builder

Do you need to exclude one or more dates from a closure period? From the product builder, you can do this by creating closures on either side of the consecutive dates you want to exclude.

Use case example

For example, you might want to open your tour business for one day (Wednesday, May 28) during a closure week (May 25 - 31).

You need to create two closures—one for May 25 to 27 and the second for May 29 to 31.

Follow these steps to exclude one or more dates from an existing product closure:

The dates excluded from the closure must be consecutive.


What are consecutive dates?

Consecutive dates are dates that follow one another without any gaps — usually referring to calendar days in direct sequence, e.g., May 1, May 2, May 3.

 

  1. Go to the Product Builder (Products > Products) and choose an existing product with an applied closure event.
  2. Select the Availability tab.
  3. Click the pencil icon beside a closure entry in the Availability Events table to open the Edit Product Closure modal.

  4. Select the Date Range and adjust the closure's end date to the day before your event. For example, if you want to open on May 28, choose May 27.

  5. Label the adjusted closure clearly in the Event Name field, e.g., add Part 1 to the name.

  6. Click the Save button to save your changes and close the modal.

  7. Create a product closure for the remaining closure dates. Select Closure from the Create New button drop-down menu in the Availability Events section.

  8. Label the new closure clearly in the Event Name field, e.g., Product Closure - Part 2.

  9. Select a Date Range and set the new closure to start the day after your event, e.g., May 29.

    If you have any product configured with timeslots (or flextime), including timeslots for draft products, use the Timeslots drop-down menu to select which timeslots you need to close.

    Blocking off dates with timeslots

    To block off the full date in the booking calendar, you need to select all timeslots where timeslots are applicable.

     

  10. Click the Save button to save your changes and close the modal.
  11. Confirm that the two product closures listed do not include the date you want to exclude.

    You can also find product closures listed within the product closures index (Products > Product Closures) or within the inventory calendar (Calendar > Inventory Calendar) for the applicable products.
